I wonder if one can truly earn the chances he is given in life? As for me this chance is not just for me but for all those i care about as well. Will we squander this opportunity or will we rise to new heights carrying Friends and family with us. i can only pray for the best but in my heart i fear the worst is the inevitable outcome

    "Fallen Star."
              "Fallen Star?"

Feeling a hoof land gently on my shoulder, i snap back to reality. Taking my gaze off the city before me i look to see a pure white mare, with a long vibrant purple mane and eyes that looked like they are made of emeralds.

" are you feeling all right?" she says as she places a hoof on my head. " your not getting sick now are you?"

letting out a brief laugh " i'm all right mom." wrapping my hoof around her, i pull her in close to me." i'm so glad you could make it today. i'm not sure i could do this, if i didn't have you there."

" you would do fine." she says returning my embrace.

pushing me away "let me have a good look at you." she says.
eyeing me up and down " well at least you're not aloud to wear you armor to the meting" shifting a few of the metal plats she gives an unsatisfying sigh.  "It could of used a refitting before you donned it again."

stepping away from her, i walk over to a mirror on the wall. " the only reason i put this on again was for the parade, so it wasn't worth it."
staring at the colt looking back at me, i am so glad i took after my mother in so many ways. with my own pure white coat and emerald eyes, i held a striking resemblance to her but unlike her. i held a deep purple mane that borders on being black with lighter shades streaking though it.
keeping it short yet still long enough to style it enough to kept it out of my face but from within its darkness a pure white horn came spiraling out. it was just a little bit longer then the average unicorn's and came to more of a point but that i didn't mind.
tracing my gaze down to my armor i got filed with a little bit of excitement and a lot of dread.  the silver of the interlocking metal plates that ran down my neck and chest was beautifully framed by a sheet of formed black steel that draped itself across my back. this same black steel served as guards and shoes for my legs as well.
seeing this reminded me of all the training i went though as a kid and how honored i was when my father gave this to me on my graduation day,     and all the lies i told him.

shaking my head i wrap each piece of armor in magic and slowly lift each piece off of me well gently sliding them into a chest designed to cradle each piece separately and snugly, with no chance of scratching denting or deformation of the pieces.

with the armor gone i could finally get a good look at the brand that was supposed to tell me what separates me from my fellow unicorns, but the golden star surrounded by green and purple flames told me nothing for most of my life. what did tell me i was different was something else entirely.

Stretching out my wings i feel the blood rush back into them, bringing a pins and needles feeling with it.

"that was an impressive display of levitation." my mom chimed in
shaking my wings trying to remove the numbness. " if you say so? i know a unicorn who can move ten times as much as me, with the accuracy needed to stack 20 bits at 10 lengths to boot."

as soon as my wings feel normal again i walk over to my closet and pull out a dark green vest with black straps across it. "speaking of which, she is also the one who made this for me."

"And what did she think of your wings?" she asks with a look that hinted at more.
" she liked them, and i quote "it's a terrible wast to just hide them" loosing myself in memory's i slide my hoof along the nearly invisible seam. a voice rang out in my head as i traced it saying " this vest is designed to hide your wings but if you ever need to use them in a hurry your wings can tare though this seem with ease, allowing free movement."

sliding on the vest, i give my wings one final stretch before i fold them in and use my magic to lock the straps down on them. stepping back in front of the mirror i make sure that my wings are completely hidden from view before i lock down the final straps that kept the vest on.
" your wings look much stronger then they were the last time i saw them?"
"ya" i sigh looking out the window to the clear blue sky " i may have already learned how to fly but only now do i truly know what it means to fly."
"and the clouds?" she asks getting a little exited.
" that one is still for pegasi alone." i laugh. "and i have been told they are wonderful to nap on.
        "sigh"
immediately i stop laughing at look at my mom, she was looking me with a sad smile on her face. " hey, whats wrong?"

"it nothing" she said as she walk up and embraced me again. "it sounds like you have made good friends and have been living happily." her embraced tightens as she whispers " i just wish you didn't have to leave to do it."

letting my tone get serious " our world would have to change to allow me that happiness here." pulling away from her, i look her in the eyes " and that is what i'm here to do."

with a voice full of worry "and how do you intend to do that?" walking past me she points out the window. "we have been stuck like this for over a thousand years." looking over her shoulder at me "change will not come easily."

"yes, this i know." walking up beside her i reach into my saddle bags and pull out a ornate box. "but the key to change is right here."

"and what is that, if i may ask?" she reaches out for the box.
as she slowly opens it to revel the scroll inside, i look out at the city and say with all the pride and surety i could muster" our way home"

"how...how did you get this?" her mouth hung open and her eyes locked on the pure white parchment with a deep blue ribbon wrapped around it, and right in the center of it sat a wax seal with Princess Celestia's royal seal pressed into it.

"that is why i asked you to come by so early before the meting." setting down a large pile of letters next to her" i couldn't send you those, so" heading over to an overstuffed pillow siting on the ground. i flop myself down on it and relax.

"come and get comfy, i wanna tell you all about this past two years of my life."
siting herself down on one of the smaller one she starts to scan the letters. " i would love to hear all about it.
